We are very pleased to partner with Ashfield Nursery in the mutual promotion of our two facilities.

The Channings Nurseries provides daycare for babies, toddlers and pre-school children. We have three nurseries located to serve the Oldham, Royton, Newhey and Milnrow areas.

Our Nursery Team

In our nurseries we have an excellent balance of experienced and newly qualified nursery staff, all are highly trained, many to level 4 and some studying to degree standard. We are also proud to have several long serving members of staff in our team.

Every child is allocated a named, dedicated key worker and this helps the children to settle quickly and the key worker will write all of the child’s daily reports and record developmental observations and milestones for the parents.

Channings Nursery - Baby Room

To aid an easy transition from home to nursery our baby room is cosy and secure. It is bright, colourful and stimulating and has larger areas to encourage movement.

We will follow your requested routine with your child and hope that initially you will spend some time with us to help us to understand your child’s preferences. There is a cosy seating area where staff can bottle feed your baby and we will work with you to help to wean your baby when the time is right. We will integrate you child carefully and his / her day will be filled with toys, music, talk and exploration. We have cosy cots so that your baby can have a much needed rest when tired.

Channings Nursery - Tweenies and Toddler Room

A spacious and exciting room begs to be explored. The days will consist of painting, sticking, making messy play not to mention the fun to be had in the water and sand areas. We use a huge variety of materials and activities are carefully planned to build confidence, independence and mobility. As your child develops the nursery day will become more structured and we emphasise social and language skills through interaction with others.

In our nurseries we follow the Early Years Foundation Style Framework which recognises the importance of development and learning at this stage. The nursery day becomes more structured with the emphasis on language, learning through play, the acquisition of life and social skills and interaction with others.

Pre-School Children

The lay-out of these nursery rooms is designed to enable the children to have continuous access to the choice of activity that they prefer. The rooms are brimming with learning resources to support their learning experience. Imaginative play is a key part in their learning and there are endless stories to be told and games to be played. There are early reading and maths activities to enjoy as construction, baking, ICT and dance.

Although there is a pattern of routine through each pre-school day we encourage free choice and allow the children to succeed in their chosen areas of preference as we find that this nurtures feelings of competence and encourages confident independence.

At Channings Childcare we provide a varied menu of nutritious home cooked food and will cater for particular dietary requirements.
